The primary goals of the KIE Kaufman Family Research Symposium are:

(1) to embody the tradition of Paul Torrance, the patriarch of creativity as well as the selfless humanitarian with myriad passions and interests;

(2) to be multi-disciplinary in nature, like the Kaufman family, by studying creativity, intelligence, clinical assessment, and theory-based interventions within the broad contexts of society—such as the performing arts, therapy, sports, learning disabilities, and the criminal justice system;

(3) to uphold and advocate for the basic core belief in the equality of all people everywhere;

(4) to present innovative, cutting-edge creativity research, steeped in theory and top-notch statistical methodology, that explores the current landscape and future directions of the field to build our capacity and expertise as a research domain; and

(5) to present research findings that MATTER, providing an impact that will be felt by everyone who experiences the symposium.
